INKI Album Launch - Visuals + Lighting Design

Visualising the sonic world of Ingibjörg Friðriksdóttir (INKI), through set design, visual content and lighting.
I was thrilled to be entrusted by Ingibjörg to take care of visuals for the launch concert of her newest album 'Thoughts Midsentence'.
We agreed on a few 'hero songs' that would receive complete timecode-synced visuals from start to finish, with the rest being animated via a bespoke TouchDesigner system.

I wanted to get away from the traditional square projection format, so instead we went for an experimental setup of hanging strips of paper from the roof, breaking up the projection into a series of tall columns resembling a sound wave.

Lighting and video was all prepared to timecode using GrandMA3, making it much more manageable on the night for a single operator (me!) to handle both video and lighting simultaneously.

Visual content was produced almost entirely in TouchDesigner and Unity, with a bit of pre-prepatory work in Houdini, and edited together in DaVinci Resolve.
A Custom TouchDesigner-based system was developed to handle the timecode-based playback from stage.
